The St. Louis Storytelling Festival is expanding its UMSL Story Slam by partnering with TBA and sponsoring 4 of its events at TBA in January, February, March and April. If you'd like to be invited to tell your story, please complete the UMSL Story Slam Submission Form.

We will videotape the performances and post them on the UMSL Continuing Education YouTube Channel and stream them through this website, where visitors can vote on their favorite each month. The top 4 vote getters (one per month) will each be awarded a $100 Gift Card that is good anywhere Visa/Mastercard is accepted. All participating storytellers will receive a St. Louis Storytelling T-Shirt.

Voting will occur as soon as we get all the videos published, usually 48 hours after the monthly event. Votes will be accepted until the day before the next monthly event. Voters can only vote once. Winners will be announced at the following monthly event and will be posted on this website. (Note: After voting, you'll be taken to a page where you'll need to scroll down to see the results.)

  1. Stories may be told individually or by a group of up to 3 people.
  2. Stories must be 5-7 minutes long.
  3. Stories must be true, but can be about anything. They can be funny, personal, historical, scary, environmental or dramatic. They just must be true.
  4. Anyone in the metropolitan St. Louis area can participate, including UMSL students, faculty and staff.
  5. Professional storytellers are not eligible.
